What excellent advice! I think it's great you mentioned mental preparation because it's so often overlooked.

It sounds like Ricardo said it well. Trying to do everything perfectly ends in doing nothing well. With that said, maybe prioritizing means putting running farther down the list so that the bigger things in life like family or health can take the lead. I don't think many dedicated marathoners put running anywhere but first place, but maybe that's the problem. Although it's not always the case, it seems like most people want to run because of what it does for them in their lives: makes them dedicated, keeps them healthy, gives them community, rather than because they thirst to be first. If the means don't achieve the ends, it's time to stop and readjust.

"Are you Ready?" should be less a question, more an affirming statement, some transposing and change of punctuation makes it: You Are Ready! It is often less obvious to oneself, but more obvious to outside observers, at least from this non-Team Rogue's lurking/watching-perspective, that your Team is ready. Your "10 positives" are a great way to reflect on those positives, to bring what is obvious to observers, into your own heart/mind to reinforce your confidence. You are ready!

Ruth, thanks so much for the assurance and confidence that you have for our little team. You have been a great supporter and I loved the fact that you have shared what has worked well and didn't work well for you. And I do appreciate your laid backness (not sure that is a word, but you get the idea). I have already started to visualize my race and where I will be on the start line and in the pack, and when I will make my move to bring it to the finish line strong and proud. Thanks again for everything!

Ruth, Carolyn, Steve & Killer-

Thanks for keeping us all on schedule this weekend! I'm slightly compulsive, so staying on schedule means more to me than I can articulate. :) I know a lot goes into making these things happen every weekend, and it's a testament to how good you are that there's a hurricane looming off the coast and my Saturday is perfectly normal. I also don't think it's insensitive to the people of Galveston to tell you great job. So, there. Great job.

Btw, if and when I ever start taking myself as a runner seriously, please tell me to leave and go to another club. The great thing about Team Rogue is that we give 150% and still manage to not take ourselves seriously.

Thanks again.

Ruth & Carolyn & Ginny,

Thanks for letting me try out the program Saturday am. I'm so glad the skies cooperated - in Austin, at least.

I've decided to join you for the rest of the half marathon program. What a great crowd you had there on Saturday morning!

Can't wait to see my coach Tues. am at 5:45 am...eek!
